Itinerary

Day1: Fly Kathmandu/Nepalgunj and drive to Bardiya about 2 hours.

Day2: Full day exploration at Bardiya including elephant safari, jungle walk with packed lunch.

Day3: Drive about 3 hours to Bhadagaon.

Day4: Drive about 2 and half an hour to Suklaphanta, exploration in Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve.

Day 5: After breakfast, bird watching at Laljhadi, which is popular for bird watching in Nepal.

Itinerary Detail

Day1: Fly Kathmandu/Nepalgunj and drive to Bardiya about 2 hours. Overnight stay at Hotel Nepal Wildlife or similar.

Day2: Full day exploration at Bardiya including elephant safari, jungle walk with packed lunch.

Overnight at hotel.

Day3: Drive about 3 hours to Bhadagaon. Home stay at Bhadagaon with warm hospitality which will provide opportunity to observe and study the culture, tradition, customs and lifestyles of Tharu-Chaudhary indigenous community.

Day4: Drive about 2 and half an hour to Suklaphanta, exploration in Suklaphanta Wildlife Reserve. It is an inhabitant of spotted deer (seen in large numbers), hog deer, nilgai, wild dog, jackal, porcupine and otter including endangered animal swamp deer. Other animals in the reserve are wild elephants, tigers, hispid hare, blue bull, leopard, chital, hog deer, one horned rhino, jackal, Langur and Rhesus monkey, barking deer, and wild boar. Over 300 bird species have been recorded including herons, ducks, storks, kingfishers. Many grassland birds along with the endangered Bengal Florican can be seen in the pheasant. Reptiles include gharial and mugger crocodiles, Indian python, cobras, kraits, rat snakes and monitor lizards.

Reserve offers varieties of experience with its forest, streams and rivers, lakes and several grass lands. Reserve is dominated by Sal forests, khair-sisso forests along the river side and Marsh vegetation dominates the wetland and grass species of the phantasm.

The protected area includes a small and unique lake called Rani Tal where you can see thousands of water fowls and wild animals mingling in the evening light at water-edge of lake. To the north, in the clear day, the Nanda Devi Himal can be seen.

Drive back to Dhangadhi and overnight at Hotel Devotee or Dinesh Cottage.

Day 5: After breakfast, bird watching at Laljhadi, which is popular for bird watching in Nepal. Forward for plantation trip to Community Forests which is supported by Raaika Tours & Treks and the local community under the Green Far-West project. Finally, fly Dhangadhi/Kathmandu or depart to further destination.
